Olivier & Tony Award winning writer and director TERRY JOHNSON invites us inside his rehearsal room for this very special two day acting intensive.
Six actors will be cast in scenes and put through their paces by Terry - observed by a workshop audience. They'll quickly be encouraged to engage the same rigour, techniques and exacting standards that lead Terry, his productions and his casts to become the toast of Broadway, and beyond.
For the first time, Terry is opening the doors to his rehearsal room to an observing audience. Explore his techniques, observe their application, and learn directly what he does and why. This is a fantastic opportunity for any actor or director to see how one of our great directors works.
Taking part as an observer costs £45 and can be booked on this page.

The masterclass runs at Makers’ House Hastings on 7th & 8th February 2026.

Terry Johnson’s acclaimed career spans both stage and screen. He has won multiple Olivier Awards, Evening Standard Awards, Writers Guild Awards, the Meyer-Whitworth Award, the John Whitney Award and the Tony Award for Best Director of a musical. His writing credits include Dead Funny, Hysteria, Cleo, Camping, Emmanuel and Dick & Hitchcock Blonde. He has directed at almost every major theatre in the UK and his productions of LA Cage Aux Folles and End of the Rainbow were both hits on Broadway and in the West End.
