Lucy Hopkins - The Creative Ridiculous - 22nd - 24th October
Lucy Hopkins is sometimes referred to as the High Priestess of Contemporary Clowning and she likes it. Her workshops are spaces to unfold into, to explore connection and amplify your unique creative excellence.
In this workshop, we will connect to our creative, ridiculous spirits, discover some new territory and work out how to share it with a roomful of people in a way that they will love.
Reenergise your creative practice by having a really silly time, get some helpful feedback, meet some cool idiots and get all the benefits of working in an inspiring, honest and supportive environment. You will receive live direction and be guided towards a performance territory that is connected, energised and ridiculous, or beautiful, or both, or something else great.
This is for clowns and creators of live performance of all kinds who would like the experience of finding or working on something new with guidance, in a group of creative ridiculous sorts. You can bring an idea or something you’re already working on, or come with nothing and discover something new. Both are an excellent approach.
All levels of experience welcome and encouraged! These gatherings work best when the group is formed of all kinds of folk. If your interest has been tickled then this is probably for you!
The workshop will take place at Makers’ House Hastings from Thursday 22nd - Saturday 24th 12pm - 5pm, and be followed by sharing the new territories on Saturday 24th at 7pm as part of THE UNKNOWN: A Show-Portal for the Extremely New.
We now offer a Pay What You Choose pricing model. This acts as a form of honesty box, allowing you to choose the fee that feels right for your circumstances when you book.
We want our courses to be as accessible as possible, but at the same time, we are committed to paying our artists fairly. If you're able to choose a higher price point, please do — your support will make a world of difference.
If you need help finding reasonably priced accommodation, or you would like to attend the course but the cost is prohibitive, then please email us here so we can discuss local accommodation offers, or to enquire if our bursary scheme might be able to help.
