Across an inspiring eight-week course, award-winning filmmaker Rebecca E Marshall will guide you through the foundations of filmmaking—perfect for complete beginners or anyone interested in exploring a personal, poetic approach to storytelling.
Discover your creative vision and learn to make films that feel vibrant, intimate, and alive.
Using only your mobile phone, you’ll experiment with seeing the world differently, capturing unexpected moments, and crafting your own short film from concept to final cut.
At the end of the course, we’ll celebrate together with a public screening at The Tulip Lounge, sharing your film on the big screen.
You’ll Learn:
How to find your creative voice and an observant eye
How to shoot cinematic footage using your phone
How to work with sound, light, and intimate detail
How to create a compelling voice-over
How to craft a personal short film from idea to finished piece
Who’s it for?
Absolute beginners, curious creatives, and anyone drawn to storytelling through moving image—no previous experience required.
The course runs at Makers’ House Hastings on Saturdays, 2pm–5pm, from 14th February until 4th April. The screening will take place at the Tulip Salon at Crown House 7th April.
