We’re very pleased to welcome friend of the house – and one of the most charming creatives from our St Leonards community – David Tothill, for this very special artist talk as part of Coastal Currents.
This evening, he will explore the very different skills he has used in both commissioned editorial photography – for government departments, local authorities, not-for-profit organisations and the NHS – and his more personal social documentary projects, including the Solsbury Hill road protest, Christmas in post-ceasefire Belfast with the Simon Community, and the London Poll Tax demos.
He will also show the exhibition prints from Underground – his remarkable collection snapped on the London Underground’s Northern Line in the 1990s – and describe how and why he was moved to take them.
It promises to be an insightful view into the creativity, workings and ideas that combine across such differing types of photography – whether making a living or making art.
This Artist Talk will take place at Makers’ House Hastings on Friday, September 11th at 7.30pm. It is free to attend, but as places are limited, we advise booking in advance.
