Terms and Conditions -

By booking with Makers’ House Hastings you agree to the following -

Cancellations

If you have signed up and paid for a workshop and then need to cancel, we understand that this can be very inconvenient and is rarely through choice. For ease and to reduce administrative work, we prefer people to take a credit for a future workshop rather than being refunded, but should you require the funds rather than a future place, here is our refund policy.

More than 60 days’ notice: We refund all fees paid other than the non-refundable deposit which is £10 for any one day course, £60 for courses up to one-week in duration and £100 for any courses with a duration over one week.

21-60 days’ notice: 50% refund or credit against a future workshop.

14-21 days’ notice: 30% refund or credit for a future workshop.

Less than 14 days’ notice: No refund or credit for a future workshop is possible if cancelling.

If we can fill your place:

Regardless of how much notice is given, if your place can be filled by someone on our waiting list, you will receive all fees paid other than the non-refundable deposit (£10/£60/£100). We would always prefer to offer this and will always do our best to fill a cancelled space but please note it is not always possible.

Challenge

Training at Makers’ House Hastings is artist-centred. Our guest artists are invited to teach in our home, sharing what they do and how they do it.

By booking this course, you agree:

  • To show guest artists a clear degree of respect: firstly, as individuals who may know more than you; and secondly, as people who have every right to express and reveal their imperfect, human frailties and faults.

  • That guest artists are free to express their thoughts, feelings, and opinions in any way they choose, using whatever language they deem appropriate (provided it remains within the bounds of UK law).

  • That Makers’ House Hastings has the right to invite and platform any guest artist it deems appropriate.

  • That you will not disturb or disrupt the class if a guest artist expresses an opinion, thought, feeling, or idea with which you disagree, or that you find offensive or emotionally challenging.

You are free to leave a workshop at any point and for any reason, though no refunds will be offered.

If you find a workshop particularly challenging, members of the Makers’ House Hastings team will be available to offer support. However, this does not mean that Makers’ House Hastings, its guest artists, or any of its staff accept responsibility for, or assume liability in relation to, your mental health or wellbeing as a result of your attendance on the course (except where required by law).

Participant Behaviour

Makers’ House Hastings reserves the right to require any person to leave its premises at any time, where it is reasonable to do so and in accordance with the law.

We also reserve the right to refuse service where necessary to protect the safety and wellbeing of our staff and customers, particularly in cases involving disorderly, disruptive, or unsafe conduct.

Any behaviour that we reasonably consider to be inappropriate, intimidating, harassing, or threatening may result in immediate removal from any workshop, event, or course, and from the premises.

Recording

You agree not to record or otherwise document any activities within the workshop or the house for any purpose without the prior express permission of both the guest artist and Makers’ House Hastings. This restriction does not apply to making personal notes for the purpose of retaining and reflecting on the teaching.
