Working from classical and contemporary texts - this exploratory, analytical and highly practical workshop is a deep dive into multifaceted ways comedy can be found on stage. Led and directed by Elf Lyons, the intensive explores how physical and verbal clowning techniques can be applied to scripted material to create bold, surprising and dynamic character choices.

Across two days, participants will work with a range of monologues and duologues, experimenting with rhythm, mime, complicite, clowning and bouffon techniques to uncover new comedic possibilities within text.

Ideal for actors wanting to develop their comedic instincts, expand their range, and discover multiple approaches to finding humour within scripted performance.

The workshop will take place at Makers’ House Hastings on Saturday 27th & Sunday 28th June from 10am until 5pm.
