A Creative Exploration of Character and Identity through Hypnotherapy and Mask

Acting teacher Chris New and hypnotherapist Charlotte Surridge have designed an immersive three-day workshop that explores the boundaries of character and identity within our personal and cultural narratives.

On stage, a character might claim their identity is hard-earned and central to their being. Yet, as an audience, we often witness how that same identity can become the very force that prevents them from embracing inevitable change.

Through the meditative, image-led techniques of hypnotherapy and the transformative, identity-shifting practice of mask work, Chris and Charlotte will allow participants to explore the stories and images that attract them, consider what these may bring to their lives, and, through character work, connect, play with and explore the many facets of themselves that lie beneath the surface.

The workshop is carefully structured to balance group exploration with dedicated one-to-one sessions with Charlotte, allowing for both shared discovery and personal reflection in a supportive environment.

The workshop takes place at Makers’ House Hastings from Friday 10th to Sunday 12th July, 10am - 5pm.
